“Music, when soft voices die
Vibrates in the memory.”

Percy Bysshe Shelley

Audra Raulyns performing "I'll Be"

Not even the frigid temperatures of winter could dampen the spirits of family, friends and colleagues as they entered the doors of BLT to celebrate the Gallant girls – all three. And a very big part of the evening was Audra Raulyn’s poignant celebration in song of “I’ll Be”.

As her words drifted across the room, there was certainly no lack of a wow factor. Audra commanded the song and could have evoked so many emotions; but on this evening, she chose one of hope, comfort and support. Not a sound was heard from those of us who sat in awe of this incredible performer and as her song came to its conclusion, you could almost hear one huge collective sigh being released - in unison. And as I listened to Audra, I could not help but think of the one thing that was missing from our evening, Paula; for Audra exuded the same positivity and determination.

"When darkness falls upon your heart and soul,
I’ll be the light that shines for you…I’ll be, I’ll be.”

As we all move forward on this unexpected journey our resolve is steadfast; we will continue to celebrate our sister, friend, and colleague; we will continue in our fight for justice, and; we will strive to keep the rights of Paula and all victims of violence at the foreground; we’ll be.
