“The life I touch for good or ill will touch another life and that in turn another, until who knows where the trembling stops or in what far place my touch will be felt.”

Frederick Buechner

While studying at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Paula successfully completed a number of theory and studio courses.  She pushed herself as a conceptual artist, explored a variety of mediums, and refined her techniques.  Paula’s commitment to family and her personal history proved to be an underlying theme in all that she created.  Reflecting upon and documenting life experiences through her art, was crucial to Paula.  Her work was always done with her daughter Anna in mind, communicating her love and legacy.

For a number of years, Paula had been playing with ideas around the four elements.  She felt strong parallels to the influences in her life.  During the Studio Practice course, she brought her vision to life.  She invested approximately 30 hours into the conception and construction of the four part piece.  It was officially presented during a class show at NSCAD in December of 2004.  Through the audio component of her piece, we gain understanding of the forces that influenced the creation of this remarkable, spirited, talented woman.
